Virtual Field Visit to Sanofi Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering held its first session in Audit Course in Maintenance Engineering for the academic year 2021-2022, on 27th October 2021 from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm. For the first time the audit course was initiated with a virtual Field visit to Sanofi Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.  The session was delivered by Mr. Prasad Adpaikar, Manager Engineering, Sanofi along with his Engineering team.

The webinar was hosted via Zoom. 55 participants from the Third year Mechanical Engineering students and Faculties from Mechanical Department attended the webinar. The event was hosted and coordinated by Prof. Swapnil Ramani. The event was initiated by Prof. Swapnil who welcomed the participants and gave a brief introduction about the resource person and also to our association with Sanofi.

Mr. Prasad started by talking about the different products manufactured by Sanofi and the generalised requirements of the products. He elucidated the criticality of maintaining certain psychrometric conditions in the pharmaceutical processes. He gave a general outline of the manufacturing processes and the machines utilized as well as the auxiliary systems used.

After the brief overview the virtual tour of the Goa Development Centre and the various auxiliary units was initiated. Mr Prasad and his engineering team took us around the site and helped the students explore virtually the powerhouse substation, Boiler &   chiller section, Air handling Units, Compressor units, water purification section, dehumidifiers, Diesel generators etc. They explained the sub components, working and various maintenance practices followed for the various utilities used in the plant.

Overall the virtual field visit was very interactive, with students asking questions displaying curiosity and a willingness to learn more about the role of mechanical engineers in the pharma sector
