Workshop on “Professional Documentation using Lyx”
IEEE Student branch of Don Bosco College of Engineering organized a hands on workshop on “Professional Documentation using Lyx” for the final year engineering students on Saturday, 10th August 2019 under the guidance of IEEE Branch Counselor, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu. The resource person for the day, Prof. Anisha Cotta was introduced to the participants and officially welcomed by the IEEE Student Branch Chair, Mr. Sherwin Colaco. The workshop began with a brief introduction on Lyx software. Lyx is user friendly & a front end to the LaTex software. The importance of Lyx software and its various applications in professional documentation throughout our careers as engineers was explained. The introduction was followed by a brief session on writing documents such as technical papers and project reports using Lyx. Inserting equations, figures, creating tables and Bibliography was illustrated. Right from installation of Lyx software till creation of final Lyx document was well planned & executed. At the end, students were given a project report Lyx template and were shown to fit in their contents so that they maintain the uniformity in their project reports. The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks by IEEE student member Mr. Keith Pinto and as a token of appreciation, the Memento was presented to the resource person by IEEE Branch Counselor, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu.
