77th Independence Day-2023

Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day in the college premises on  August 15, 2023. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Pascoal Noronha, Civil Engineer and Gazetted PWD Officer for structural engineering. Mr Noronha was accompanied by dignitaries: Rector- Reverend Father Ralin D’souza, Director- Reverend Father Kinley D’cruz, Administrator – Reverend Father Leo Pereira, Principal- Dr Neena Panandikar and FiiRE (CEO)- Mr D. S. Prashant.

The programme began with hoisting of the National Flag followed by the National Anthem, with orders given by Physical Education and Sports Director, Mr Ryan Pereira. This was followed by welcoming the Chief Guest with a bouquet of flowers, and Fr Kinley D’cruz delivering the welcome address to the gathering. Fr Kinley highlighted the essence of the term “freedom”, he said that “freedom is who we want to be”, by exploring one’s full potential and working towards becoming one’s best self for the nation’s progress.

Patriotism set the stage as there was a Hindi Poem recited by Ms. Tamanna Naik and a song presented by Ms. Vanifa and team. Both the performances were given by girls from Nursing School, Margao. This was followed by a mashup of patriotic songs sung by First Year Engineering students of the college.

The Chief Guest was introduced by Ms. Rucha Sawant who underlined Mr Noronha’s achievements and reiterated his work in different fields. The Chief Guest’s address included a reminder for the gathering, of the various freedom struggles and how “we should honour the freedom fighters” who gained us this auspicious day.

Towards the end, a token of appreciation was presented to Mr. Noronha by the Rector Fr Ralin D’souza, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr Abhishek Dias who extended sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, the presenters and the performers of the day.
