79th Independence Day Celebration

Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day in the college premises on 15th August 2025, at 8:30 a.m. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Elvis DeSouza, Civil Engineer and retired Executive Engineer, PWD, Government of Goa. Mr Elvis DeSouza was accompanied by dignitaries: Rector, Reverend Father Ralin De Souza, Administrator Reverend Father Leo Pereira, Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar, Registrar Dr. Kala Nayak.

The programme began with hoisting of the National Flag followed by the National Anthem, with orders given by Physical Education and Sports Director, Mr Clifford Britto and our NCC Cadet Mr. Tabrez Khan. This was followed by welcoming the Chief Guest with a bouquet of flowers, and Fr Ralin De Souza delivering the welcome address to the gathering.



Patriotism set the stage as there were Hindi and English Poem recited by Mr Sandeep Sawant from TE Computers & Ms. Shreya Joshi from TE ECS and 2 patriotic songs presented by Music Club of Don Bosco College of Engineering and FiiRE Skills team.

The Chief Guest was introduced by Mr Shrinivas Inamdar who underlined Mr Elvis DeSouza’s achievements and reiterated his work in different fields. The Chief Guest’s address included a reminder for the gathering, of the various freedom struggles and stated that “the budding engineers should contribute in their own field for the upliftment of the nation”.

Towards the end, a token of appreciation was presented to Mr Elvis DeSouza by the Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Sports Secretary Mr Malcolm Antao who extended sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, the presenters and the performers of the day.
