7th Council Installation – SEEDS

The installation of the Students Association (SEEDS) Council for the academic year 2019-20 was inaugurated on 24th August 2019, in the presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Clinton Vaz, Director – Rev Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Principal- Dr. Neena S. P. Panandikar, Registrar- Dr. Kala Nayak and Faculty Coordinators- Asst. Prof. Ulpa Waingankar and Mrs Maya Lin Noronha.

SEEDS- “Stairway towards Empowering Engineering Dreams to Success’ which was initially installed in February 2014, was formed with the primary aim to provide a platform for the first year students to enhance their reasoning, creative ability and get them prepared to confidently face the challenges in the technical field. This year the theme for SEEDS 2019-20 is EcoTech.

The function began with a prayer song followed by the dignitaries along with staff coordinators and student council watering a budding plant as a mark of nurturing the plant that symbolizes the act of helping the students of the first year to grow into successful individuals and professionals.

Registrar- Dr. Kala Nayak administered the oath and introduced the newly inducted council members:

Treasurer- Mr. Mohammed Irfan Dukandar

Secretary- Mr. Jolton Rodrigues

Class members:

F.E. Mechanical 1– Mr. Nikarsh Bandekar

F.E. Mechanical 2 – Mr. Simron Rodrigues

F.E. ETC – Mr. Pradin Chitari

F.E. Computer- Mr. Nafiro Fernandes

F.E. Civil – Mr. Sanat Prabhudessai

Following this, Principal – Dr. Neena Panandikar welcomed the gathering thanking the outgoing SEEDS committee for their outstanding work and congratulated the new committee by encouraging them to achieve greater heights.

In his speech, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’cruz spelt out the acronym of SEEDS to motivate the students to achieve success in all their endeavors. He said the stairway takes students and their abilities to the next level. He encouraged the students to take part in all events actively so that they grow and make things happen for them in a positive light. SEEDS is an opportunity to experiment with abilities of the students. He told them not to chase success but do what you love and love what you do and success will automatically follow. He ended by saying , ‘working on the right thing is more important than working hard’.

The Chairperson of SEEDS Ms. Ritika Ghanti, then, laid out the plans for the academic year 2019-20. The events have been selected in such a way so as to ignite the thought process of  young minds.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Mr. Clinton Vaz said that he felt honored to be amongst the youngsters. He said that it is very important for the youngsters to know what they like and to pursue it. Laying out his experience and how he, a Mechanical Engineer, got into waste management.He said that 20 percent of what you study is used in reality but that 20 percent is very important; the software learnt helps in designing. He motivated the students by saying that they can do whatever they want, they just have to keep their minds open. It is not always that the smartest are the best but there is hope for all. Recognition will be yours when you know how you use your mind. He ended his speech telling the students to always have positive thoughts about their studies.

Refreshments were given to the students after which various activities were held ranging from competitions like Debate, Quiz, Collage making, T-shirt painting, Street Play and Photography.  The day ended with the screening of an inspirational movie, “BIG DREAM: Engineering Our World”.
