Field Visit to Sanofi Goa Development Center for TE MECH under Audit Course in Maintenance Engineering

On April 12, 2023, 57 students of Third Year Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda visited Sanofi Goa Development Center as part of the Audit Course in Maintenance Engineering. Students were accompanied by the mechanical engineering staff members Dr. Pravin Verekar, Dr. Suraj Marathe, Asst. Prof. Swapnil Ramani, Asst. Prof. Sharad Shanbhag and Mr. Dattaguru Sawardekar.

The visit was organized by Mr. Prasad Adpaikar, Manager Engineering & Operations.
The visit started with a presentation by Mr. Prasad Adpaikar, which covered the overview of Sanofi, various machines, utilities in the plant, most importantly the role of engineers in pharmaceutical industries. The different types of maintenance engineering practices followed in pharma industry were also addressed. The plant engineers also gave a presentation on water purification system and the calibration tools and techniques. After the session, the students were taken to the utilities section wherein the working of Chillers, Boilers, Diesel Generators and their maintenance was explained. During the visit, students were able to see the newly installed 1800KW solar panel. They were shown the monitoring system, which tracks the panel’s performance, energy produced, and carbon emissions saved. The panels are capable of generating enough energy to power the entire facility on sunny days.

Overall, the visit to Sanofi Goa Development Center was informative, and the students and staff learned a lot about the company’s activities and commitment to healthcare. The visit was coordinated by  Asst. Prof. Swapnil Ramani.
