DEPARTMENT OF DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE ORGANISED NATIONAL LEVEL PROJECT COMPETITION –TECHNIX 2023

The Final Year Project Quality Assurance Committee, Department Of Electronics and Computer Science (formerly known as Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering)  in association with Don Bosco Electronics and Telecommunication Society (DBEATS) organized Technix 2023 from May 5^th  to May 13^th, 2023. Technix is a project competition that has been organized by the ETC Department since 2016 with the primary aim to encourage budding engineers to exhibit their novel ideas and innovative projects. The jury for Technix 2023 were Mr. Rishu Shrivastav, Lead-Software delivery- Spintly, Goa  and Ms. Ashika Verenkar,  Manager-enterprise sales at Schneider Electric, Mumbai

The event commenced in the month of April with the submissions of abstract proposals which went on till early May. More than 50 groups registered for the competition. The event saw entries from various colleges all over India including KIT’s College of Engineering, Kohlapur, Maharastra; Techno College of Engineering, Agartala; AISSMS Institute of Information Technlogy, Pune; Government Engineering College, Ramanagara; Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Goa; Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa etc. The project were based on latest trending domains like Augmented Reality, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Communication Engineering, 3D printing, Mechatronics

The competition saw 2 phases: Phase I was the abstract shortlisting phase and Phase II was the final presentation. A total of 21 abstracts were shortlisted for the final presentation. Some of the criteria for judging included innovation, design and methodology, construction and testing and overall presentation.

The valedictory function of Technix 2023 was held on May 13, 2023. The dignitaries present were Mr Rishu Shrivastav and Ms Ashika Verenkar; Director of DBCE, Rev Fr.Kinley D’Cruz and the HOD of the ETC/ECS Department, Dr. D.S Vidhya.

The event was compered by the Technix student coordinator , Ms Karen Mendes. The valedictory function commenced with the welcome address by Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz. In his address Fr. congratulated the winners and encouraged the students to work on innovative projects. This was followed by an address by the HOD of the Department and Convener of Technix, Dr. D.S Vidhya. Further, the Coordinator of Technix, Prof. Anisha Cotta presented the report of Technix 2023 and acknowledged the support, motivation and guidance received to make Technix 2023 a success. The Judges then addressed the gathering. In their address they shared their experience in judging the competition, suggested inputs on the projects and gave their valuable feedback.

First Place was bagged by Josten D’souza, Samarth Savalkar, Clive Rodrigues, Delton Fernandes, Artika Vernekar from Don Bosco College of Engineering for their project titled “Design and Development of UAV for the Harvesting of Coconuts”. The second place was won by Vaibhav Ramesh Kashid and Bhoomy Durgesh Lingras from KIT’s College of Engineering, Kolhapur, Maharashtra for their project titled Spy Tank.  The winners of the third place were Nadim Shah, Nabirasul Kuntoji, Sameer Bankapur and Sanmeet Ghatge from Padre Conceicao College of Engineering for their project titled Wall Climbing Robot

The event was concluded with the Vote of thanks by the Technix Coordinator Prof. Melba D’ Souza.  The event was coordinated by Prof. Anisha Cotta and Prof. Melba D’ Souza. The student coordinators were Ms. Karen Mendes and Mr. Benson Fernandes.
