DBCE FUTSAL LEAGUE REPORT
“DBCE FUTSAL LEAGUE” Powered by L.V Constructions concludes with “Team Tigers” and “Team Panthers” winning the championship trophies
DBCE FUTSAL LEAGUE began in the month of March with 6 teams consisting of 12 players each vying for the title of League champions. After playing 10 matches each, team Tigers captained by Simron Rodrigues ended the league with the most number of points to emerge champions of the “DBCE FUTSAL LEAGUE”. The league also included a “SUPERCUP” Tournament after the conclusion of the league. In the “SUPERCUP”, the teams that finished in the 1st and 2nd place would automatically qualify for the semifinals, whereas, the last 4 placed teams would have to play each other to determine the remaining two semifinalist. Team Demolishers led by Samson Couthino and Team Panthers led by Rohan Viegas defeated Team Dynamos led by Stalan Vaz and Team Strikers led by Lenny Vaz in their respective matches to qualify for the semifinals of the “SUPERCUP”. The Semifinals and the Finals were held on the 10th of June 2023 from 6pm onwards. The event started with the first Semifinal Being played between Team Falcons Led by Nimish Noronha and Team Demolishers led by Samson Couthino. Falcons dominated to win the match by a 3-1 margin to book their place in the finals. In the other Semifinals, League winners Team Tigers played against Team Panthers who had finished 4th in the league standings.
Panthers managed to cause a huge upset and knockout the league champions via a penalty shootout after the match was tied at 2-2 after regulation time. Before the Finals took place there was an Exhibition match scheduled between DBO Oratory and DBC Panjim. Despite the heavy rain, the two star studded teams which included a lot of professional players managed to entertain the large crowd with their silky skills. In the Finals, Team Panthers managed to cause another upset as they beat the favorites to clinch the SUPERCUP trophy. The Chief Guest for the event was the administrator of DBCE Fatorda, Fr. Leo who gave away the medals and trophies. All the 6 teams received medals for their participation. Following were the winners of all awards: League Winner (Team Tigers), League Runners up (Team Falcons), Supercup Champions (Team Panther), Supercup Runners Up (Team Falcons), Player of the Tournament Male (Elvinston from Team Tigers), Player of the Tournament Female (Melfy from Team Panthers), Best Goal Keeper (Samuel Miranda from Team Strikers), Golden Boot (Ganesh Masekar from Team Panthers) and Best Manager (Myron from Team Falcons).
