Sessions on Financial Planning

Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, organised two sessions on Financial Planning for the staff members of the college, on 26^th August 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., in the college Auditorium. Ms. Elaine Dias, Counsellor DBCE, was the compere for the afternoon, and Mr Bhupesh Prabhu Dessai, Senior Accountant DBCE, was the session-coordinator.

The resource person for the first session was Mr. Michael Viegas, Chartered and Cost Accountant, and FiiRE Incubatee. Mr. Viegas spoke on “Sources of Income and Tax Saving Instruments”, highlighting the different ways of effectively handling various sources of income, in a taxation-friendly manner.

The second session was given by Mr. Merwin D’Costa with team HDFC Bank, Fatorda, on “Awareness about Investments in Mutual Funds and Other Banking Services.” Mr. D’Costa presented statistical data and elaborated on the future of Capital Markets. He imparted knowledge on “power of compounding”, and highlighted the importance of saving from a young age, in consistent instalments.

Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar presented tokens of appreciation to both the resource persons, and thanked their efforts in presenting effective sessions on Financial Planning for the audience. Ms. Elaine extended gratitude to both the speakers and the HDFC team, along with the session-coordinator, principal and the staff members.
