IEEE Day Celebration at DBCE

The IEEE DBCE Student Branch celebrated IEEE Day on 13th October 2023. The IEEE Student Branch Counselor – Prof. Yeshudas Muttu, WIE & GRSS Mentor – Prof. Mohini Naik and Prof. Deron Rodrigues were present on the occasion.

Prof. Yeshudas Muttu addressed the students, focusing on the theme “Bond of Technology – IEEE.” He highlighted the history of IEEE Day and emphasized the need to keep the momentum going. He also discussed about the areas for improvement within the IEEE Student Branch and stressed the importance of an ethical committee. Following the address, the Executive Committee was formally installed, receiving their badges from Prof. Yeshudas and Prof. Mohini and a cake-cutting ceremony was held.

A networking activity was conducted by IEEE DBCE Chair – Clarence Dias, wherein students were divided into groups which promoted student interaction, fostering a sense of unity. Reels from the reel-making competition of IEEE Educational Tour 2023 were showcased. Later, senior members Mr. Clarence Dias and Mr. Navin Morajkar shared their IEEE experiences. IEEE GRSS Chair – Mr. Jeremy Gilbert spoke on the upcoming IEEEXTREME 17.0 24-hour Coding Competition.

Two thought – provoking games were led by Mr. Aryan Kotru and Ms. Kezia Fernandes where one tested student’s technical knowledge and the other demanded co-ordination and unity in their dancing. The Vote of thanks was delivered by Eric Faleiro. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. The event was hosted by Mr. Benson Fernandes and Ms. Rucha Sawant.

The colour theme for the day was pink and yellow, with the Executive Committee members wearing white, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The celebration successfully blended knowledge sharing, team-building, and fun, strengthening the bond among the IEEE student members.
