Installation of IGS Student Chapter & One Day Seminar

Our college (DBCE) proudly announced the establishment of the DBCE Students Chapter of the Indian Geotechnical Society, symbolizing a significant leap forward in the academic and professional pursuits of its students on 15^th March 2024. The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries and faculty members to foster excellence in Geotechnical Engineering. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Chief Guest, Prof. M. R. Madhav a renowned figure in the realm of Geotechnical Engineering whose insights and expertise added immense value to the occasion. Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director of DBCE, Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, Dr. Shweta Prasanna, Head of the Department Civil Engineering and Dr. Purnanand Savoikar, Chairperson of IGS Goa Chapter were also present lending their support and encouragement to the initiative. The newly formed DBCE Students Chapter of the Indian Geotechnical Society also introduced its elected members who will spearhead the chapter’s activities and initiatives. Mr. Kshitij assumes the role of Chairperson, Mr. Krish Sharma as Secretary, Mr. Yohan Antao as Treasurer, with Mr. Satyendra Naik and Mr. Avon Carvalho joining as Executive Members, bringing a diverse range of talents and perspectives to the chapter’s leadership. Following the formal inauguration, students of SE, TE and BE attended an enlightening lecture delivered by Prof. Madhav delving into the intricacies of Geotechnical Engineering and highlighting its significance in contemporary society. The lecture served as a source of inspiration for students and faculty members alike igniting a passion for exploration and innovation in the field. The success of the inauguration ceremony owes much to the diligent efforts of Asst. Prof. Jeffrey Valadares and Asst. Prof. Swaroopa Sail who served as the coordinators ensuring the smooth execution of the event and laying a solid foundation for the chapter’s future endeavours. The establishment of the DBCE Students Chapter of the Indian Geotechnical Society dawns a new era of collaboration, innovation and excellence in Geotechnical Engineering education and practice. DBCE remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing the intellectual and professional growth of its students empowering them to become leaders and change-makers in their chosen field.
