Installation of Chapter Working Committee of ISHRAE DBCE Student Chapter- 2024-25
The Mechanical Engineering Department installed the chapter working committee of the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) DBCE Student Chapter for the academic year 2024-2025. The chief guest Mr. Hildon Lobo, Head of Expert Service Centre at Tech India Private Limited, graced the occasion. Other notable attendees included Mr. Mohnish Borkar, President, ISHRAE Goa Chapter; Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director, Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, Dr. Pravin Verekar, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department and Mr. Vishal Kurtikar, ISHRAE Goa Chapter Student Chair.
In his welcome address, Dr. Pravin Verekar emphasized the ISHRAE community’s contributions to students in the fields of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. He highlighted the crucial role ISHRAE plays in engaging with students and the numerous benefits that participating in chapter activities offers for their future careers.
Dr. Neena Panandikar encouraged students to engage actively with ISHRAE by participating in various technical events and competitions. She stressed the importance of collaboration and the opportunities provided by ISHRAE for professional development. Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz advised members to make the best use of the opportunities offered by ISHRAE and urged the newly elected council members to prepare diligently for upcoming events, with a focus on sustainability and the integration of artificial intelligence in innovative gadgets.
Mr. Mohnish Borker elaborated on ISHRAE’s main objectives, emphasizing the benefits of membership, such as access to webinars and field visits. He encouraged students to participate in various competitions organized by the society. He also acknowledged the efforts of Prof. Tanay Rege in promoting student membership in ISHRAE.
The new committee was installed by Mr. Vishal Kurtikar. The newly elected committee comprised: Rio DeMelo, President; Abhishek Dias, President-Elect; Dev Kalgutkar, Secretary; Chenoy Santos, Treasurer; Aniketh Dongre, Sachin Tamse, and Shravan Phadte as CWC Members
Mr. Hildon Lobo, delivered a talk titled “Industry’s Expectations from Engineering Students.” He urged students to transition from learning to contributing by continuously adding value to their organizations. He also outlined key traits for success, including punctuality, enthusiasm, proactive learning, collaboration, creativity, and adaptability under pressure, along with strong foundational knowledge and effective communication skills.
Rio De Mello, proposed the vote of thanks. One of the highlights of the event was the quiz competition on “Thermodynamics and Energy,” which had participation from 11 student teams. Rio De Mello and Raul Baracho secured first place, while Josiah Fernandes and Chenoy Santos earned second place.
