Smart India Hackathon 2024 Internal Institute Level Hackathon

Smart India Hackathon 2024 is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. In SIH 2024, the students would have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs to create world class solutions for some of the top organizations including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation.

Don Bosco College of Engineering organised an Internal Institute Level Hackathon, as an Idea Competition, to shortlist the teams to participate in the national level. The event was open to students of all years and branches. It was conducted in the college campus on September 03,, 2024. A total of 11 teams comprising of 6 members each participated in the hackathon. The teams comprised of students from inter-disciplines. They presented their innovative ideas in front of a three- member jury panel comprising of Mr. Thejus Joseph, Interim CEO-FiiRE, Dr. Vivek Jog, Associate Professor in Computer Engineering, DBCE and Dr. Shreyas Simu, Assistant Professor and Assistant TPO, DBCE. The jury were very engaged throughout and pitched-in their suggestions to the teams during the competition.

Also present for the competition was Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar, who has always been the motivational factor behind such events, she encouraged the students to do well and provided her valuable inputs throughout the competition.

All 11 teams were shortlisted as per the rules of SIH2024 this year, the teams being: Super 6, Coders, Anonymous, Hyperdrive Dynamics, Binary Brigade, Circuit Surge, CureBase, Tech Troopers, Bug-Smith, Kryptonauts, Tech Crafters

The students were evaluated out of 50 points across the following categories: Ideation, Innovation and Design, Technical Feasibility, Sustainability/Scalability, and Presentation.

The event was organized by Mr. Selvyn Fernandes, Assistant Professor from Dept. of Electronics & Computer Science & SPOC-SIH 2024 Mr. Swapnil Ramani, Assistant Professor from Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, DBCE Goa and Co-Ordinator-Internal Hackathon SIH 2024.
