First-Year Engineering Students’ Association – SEEDS Council Installation 2024
The First-Year Engineering Students’ Association of DBCE – SEEDS (Stairway Towards Empowering Engineering Dreams to Success) by the Department of Science & Humanities, installed its Student-Council for the year 2024-25 on 16th October 2024. Dr. Joydeep Bhatacharjee, Principal of Government College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Quepem, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. For the Inaugural function, dignitaries in attendance were Director, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’cruz; Principal; Dr. Neena Panandikar, alongside Head of the Department of Science and Humanities, Dr. Kala Nayak; Faculty Coordinators of SEEDS Mrs. Vaishali Parakhi and Ms. Carol Cardozo accompanied by Mr. Vivaan Raikar, Incoming Chairperson of the SEEDS Council 2024-25.
The ceremony included installing the new council Mr. Vivaan Raikar, Chairperson; Mr. Yashraj Raut, Secretary; Ms. Shruta Jadhav, Treasurer; Class Executive Members – Mr. Anildev Kamat (Mechanical), Mr. Nirat Nayak (Computer I), Mr. Rushank Natekar (Computer II), Mr. Varadvir Bhagat (Electronics and Computer Science) and Mr. Mithun Kumaar (Civil). The outgoing council members were felicitated by the Chief Guest. The winners of Sweet-Making competition (faculty) and Anti-ragging poster-making competition were awarded. Mr. Vivaan Raikar presented the forthcoming yearly plan including the second edition of Year-Round Events, Mini Project-Making 2.0 – presentation of working project models and Quanta-Quest 2.0 – simplification mathematical concepts for high-school students through hands-on projects, making learning engaging and enjoyable.
Dr. Joydeep Bhatacharjee delivered an insightful talk on “Engineers as Change Makers”, citing famous engineers from the past who have made impactful contributions to the society. He urged the students to find solutions to problems by adopting a critical thinking approach. This was followed by Inaugural Events:
· Mini-Hackathon: Coding Conquest
A coding competition for Computer Engineering and ECS students to showcase their skills.
· Escape Room with Technical Clues
A team-based challenge solving puzzles with technical clues.
· Logo Making on the Theme
Students design logos that reflect the STEAM theme.
· Build-a-City for Mechanical and Civil Engineering
Teams create innovative architectural models.
· Tech-Quiz
A fun quiz to test knowledge of STEAM concepts.
· Reel Capturing Uniqueness
A platform for creative video presentations showcasing talents.
· STEAM Mascot Competition
Students dress as influential STEAM figures to celebrate their achievements.
Enthusiastic participation was shown by First-Year Students.
