Talks Delivered by Dr. Mohini Naik under Vidnyan Dhara 2025

Dr. Mohini Naik, Assistant Professor at the Electronics and Computer science Department, DBCE, was invited as a resource person under Vidnyan Dhara 2025, an initiative by the Goa State Higher Education Council and the Directorate of Higher Education, to conduct guest lectures aimed at inspiring and educating students about satellite communications, space exploration, and ham radio. These sessions were designed to provide students with insights into these critical topics and their real-world applications, fostering scientific curiosity and innovation.
Details of the Sessions:

On 13th January 2025, a session was conducted at Government High School, Balli Cuncolim. The topics covered included an introduction to satellite communications, the evolution of space technology, basics of ham radio and its applications, followed by an interactive Q&A session with students. The session helped students understand the role of satellites in modern communication and the significance of amateur radio in emergency scenarios.
On 14th January 2025, a lecture was delivered at Holy Cross High School, Quepem- Goa. The discussion focused on understanding space and satellite systems, the role of satellites in communication and navigation, basics of ham radio, and emergency communication. The session also featured student demonstrations and hands-on activities, allowing students to engage practically with the concepts discussed.
On 3rd February 2025, two sessions were conducted. The first session took place at Government High School, Vadem Sanguem, where an overview of satellite communication systems and space missions was provided. The discussion also covered ham radio, including licensing and real-world applications, along with an engaging discussion on career opportunities in space technology.
Later that day, at Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem- Goa another session was held, introducing students to space science and satellite technology. The applications of satellites in weather forecasting, communication, and defence were explained. A practical demonstration of ham radio communication was conducted, which helped students grasp the functionality of radio communication. The session concluded with a discussion on student engagement and future opportunities in the field of space technology.
The sessions conducted under Vidnyan Dhara 2025 were highly successful in disseminating knowledge and inspiring young minds. Students and faculty actively participated in discussions, showing great enthusiasm for satellite communication and ham radio applications. Many students expressed curiosity about pursuing careers in space technology and scientific research. The hands-on demonstrations further enhanced their learning experience, making the concepts more tangible and interactive.
