Field Visit to Cipla-Verna

The CII-IWN DBCE Student Chapter of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, organized an industrial visit to Cipla’s manufacturing facility in Verna on April 1, 2025. The visit was attended by CII-IWN student members and coordinated by faculty mentor Ms. Melba D’Souza.
During the visit, students explored Cipla’s state-of-the-art anti-cancer drug manufacturing unit. Mr. Anurag from Cipla-Verna guided the group and offered in-depth insights into the drug production process. Students observed various stages of manufacturing, including roll compacting, powder mixing, blending, compression, coating, isolation, capsule filling, and dispensing. This hands-on exposure allowed them to understand the complex and highly regulated procedures involved in producing life-saving medications.
The visit concluded with an interactive session led by the unit head, who discussed diverse career avenues for engineers in the pharmaceutical industry. Students were introduced to roles in machine automation, quality assurance, safety management, and research and development. The talk highlighted the crucial contributions of engineers from Chemical, Mechanical, and Biomedical backgrounds in optimizing drug production and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Overall, the field trip was a highly enriching experience that offered students practical knowledge and broadened their perspective on engineering roles in the pharmaceutical sector. The initiative was successfully conducted under the guidance of Ms. Melba D’Souza.
