The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Science & Humanities jointly organized an educational industry visit for the First-Year Mechanical Engineering students (Batch 2025-26) to IFB Industries Ltd., Washing Machine Division, Verna on 24 July 2025. As a part of Student Induction Programme (SIP), the visit was arranged with the aim of giving students firsthand exposure to industrial processes and manufacturing operations relevant to their academic curriculum.

IFB is a leading manufacturer of home appliances and industrial equipment, known especially for its washing machines and kitchen solutions. The Verna plant is one of its major manufacturing units, involved in the production of front-load and top load washing machines, employing advanced automation and assembly line techniques.

The visit commenced with a safety briefing followed by an introductory presentation about IFB Industries, its product portfolio, and market presence. Students were then guided through different sections of the manufacturing facility, including Sheet Metal Processing Unit, Component Assembly Lines, Painting & Surface Treatment Section and Final Assembly & Testing Lines. Throughout the visit, students engaged with the plant personnel, gaining insights into process optimization, supply chain logistics, and quality assurance protocols adopted by IFB.

Don Bosco College of Engineering extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Mithil Naik Gaunkar and Mr. Anil Dhage of IFB Industries Ltd. for their invaluable inputs, support and hospitality. The students were accompanied by Sachin Turi, Tanay Rege from Department of Mechanical Engineering and Avila Naik from Department of Science and Humanities.
