FE and ME Educational Field Visit

On 24th July 2025, Third Semester M.E. Data Science students from Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, undertook an educational field trip as part of their course on Sustainability Principles and Practices. The student went along with First Year Computer Engineering Students of the college, who in turn undertook the field trip as part of their Student-Induction Program.
The group first visited the Goa Waste Management Corporation’s 100 TPD (Tons Per Day) Integrated Solid Waste Processing Facility at Cacora, Curchorem. Here, students interacted with technicians and chemists, exploring waste processing methods, seasonal data trends, and areas for system improvement.
The second site was the Goa Public Works Department’s JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency) – funded 100 MLD (Million Litres per Day) Water Treatment Plant at Xelpem, Sanguem. Site engineers led a comprehensive tour, highlighting operational challenges, health risks, and the potential for data-driven solutions. Opportunities for student collaboration were also discussed.
The field visit offered meaningful, real-world exposure to sustainable practices and the role of data in improving them. Science & Humanities and Computer Engineering Faculty members and the Head of Department accompanied the students.
