Engineers’ Day – Tech Talks by Civil Engg. Department

The Department of Civil Engineering in collaboration with the Institution Industry Cell (IIC) of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, organized its annual Tech Talk on 15th September 2025, as part of the Engineers’ Day celebrations. The event, held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, aimed to provide Civil Engineering students with insights from experts in academia and industry.

The session featured two distinguished speakers. The first lecture was delivered by Ar. Roheet Hede, Consultant Architect, Roheet Hede and Associates – Architects and Planners, Goa, on the topic “Kumi – Our Own Home: Sustainable, Modern, and Unabashedly Cost-Effective.” Ar. Hede shared practical approaches to building sustainable homes using cost-effective materials, presenting the case study of his own residence.

The second lecture was presented by Prof. Ramrao Surya Wagh, Vice Dean, Goa Business School, Goa University, on the topic “Geo-Spatial Technologies for Land Use Mapping.” Prof. Wagh highlighted the role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in land mapping and elaborated on its applications in modern civil engineering practices.

Dr. Shwetha P, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, welcomed the dignitaries with a flowerpot. The event was attended by over 70 students along with faculty members of the department.

The programme was successfully coordinated by Prof. Jeffrey Valadares and Dr. Nitendra Palankar, faculty members of the Civil Engineering Department, with the support of Dr. Shreyas Simu, Coordinator, Institution Industry Cell (IIC).
