Awareness session on Waste Management and Cleanliness Drive

The NSS Unit of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao–Goa, in collaboration with the Goa Waste Management Corporation, organized an impactful awareness session and cleanliness drive as part of the national campaign “Swachhata Hi Sewa” on 26/09/2025. The event aimed to educate students and the community on the importance of proper waste collection, segregation, and scientific disposal. Dr. Rajath Rajaram Chitari, Assistant Manager at Goa Waste Management Corporation and a seasoned environmental expert, was invited as the guest speaker. With a rich academic background in marine sciences and environmental engineering, and over a decade of research experience, Dr. Chitari shared valuable insights into Goa’s waste management challenges. Emphasizing the need for source segregation and citizen participation, he encouraged NSS volunteers and students to adopt sustainable practices. Following the session, NSS volunteers actively participated in a cleanliness drive, collecting waste in designated areas while promoting messages of “Zero Waste Goa” and “Swachh Bharat.” The event was visually documented thro showing enthusiastic student involvement, banners advocating environmental responsibility. This initiative not only deepened awareness but also reinforced the role of youth in driving social and environmental change.
