Expert Talk on “Exploring Directed Graphs: Concepts and Applications in Computer Engineering”

The Department of Science and Humanities at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, organized an expert talk titled “Exploring Directed Graphs: Concepts and Applications in Computer Engineering” on Saturday, 27th September 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in Seminar Hall 2. The session was designed for students who opted for Graph Theory as a professional elective, along with interested faculty members across departments.
The resource person for the session was Prof. Tarkeshwar Singh, Professor in the Department of Mathematics, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus. Prof. Singh delivered an insightful lecture beginning with the fundamentals of directed graphs, including underlying graphs, in-degree, out-degree, and orientation. He then advanced to topics such as Eulerian and Hamiltonian directed graphs, tournaments, and various forms of connectivity.
The talk was enriched with real-world applications, particularly in computer engineering fields such as network analysis, algorithm design, and project modeling. By blending theory with practice, the session encouraged students to strengthen their problem-solving skills through the modeling of real-world systems using directed graphs.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students actively interacted with the speaker. The department extends its gratitude to Prof. Singh for his valuable insights and to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement. The session was successfully coordinated by Mrs. Vaishali Parakhi under the guidance of Dr. Kala Nayak.
