Inauguration of the AICTE–ISTE Workshop on Unlocking Gen AI: Concepts, Tools & Research-Driven Applications

The AICTE–ISTE One-Week Workshop on “Unlocking Gen AI: Concepts, Tools & Research-Driven Applications” was inaugurated at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, on Monday, 24th November 2025 at 9:30 a.m. The workshop is powered by GSHEC–DHE and organized in collaboration with Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem.

The inauguration began with the traditional Lighting of the Lamp, followed by a warm welcome extended to the dignitaries, resource persons, faculty, and participants.

  • Dr. Gaurang Patkar, Head, Department of Computer Engineering, DBCE

  • Prof. Amey Kerkar, Coordinator, DBCE

In his welcome address, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Fernandes emphasized the significance of emerging technologies such as Generative AI and reaffirmed DBCE’s dedication to fostering innovation, research, and future-ready engineering education.

Shri. Bhushan K. Savaikar, in his keynote speech, highlighted the transformative impact of Generative AI across sectors and encouraged participants to adopt an innovative mindset and bridge academic learning with practical industry applications.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Niyan Marchon stressed the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and research-driven development in the AI domain for academic and professional excellence.

Speaking on the objective of the workshop, Prof. Amey Kerkar, Coordinator, DBCE, explained that the sessions are designed not only for programmers and engineers but also for non-coders, educators, and researchers, enabling them to effectively work with Generative AI tools without requiring advanced programming expertise.

The workshop was officially declared open at 11:00 a.m., marking the beginning of a week of expert sessions, hands-on learning, demonstrations, and collaborative knowledge sharing.

As a token of appreciation, a memento of gratitude was presented to Prof. (Dr.) Niyan Marchon by Rev. Fr. Wilfred Fernandes and Dr. Neena Panandikar to Shri. Bhushan K. Savaikar, acknowledging his valuable presence and inspiring address.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Liana Da Costa, Associate Professor of Computer Science, Government College, Quepem, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organizing committee members, and participants for their support and cooperation.
