Dr. Ajit Salunke conducts talk on “Humanoid Robots at Cansaulim Schools

Dr. Ajit Salunke, an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Department at DBCE, delivered a lecture titled “Humanoid Robots- The Future of Artificial Intelligence” at St. Thomas School, Casaulim on 18th February 2026. This session was part of Vidnyan Dhara 2026, an engaging science series organized by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, with the aim of fostering scientific curiosity among young individuals..

During the session, Dr. Salunke explained the concept and evolution of humanoid robots. Students were introduced to the core components of humanoid robots such as vision sensors, tactile sensors, actuators, control systems, power sources, and the crucial role of Artificial Intelligence in enabling learning and decision-making. The talk highlighted real-world applications of humanoid robots across diverse sectors such as: Space missions and exploration, Healthcare and surgical assistance, Defence and hazardous operations, Manufacturing and smart factories, Hospitality and service industries

Several globally recognized humanoid robots were showcased to provide practical context, including Sophia, ASIMO, Atlas, Figure 02, Electric Atlas, Unitree, Sony’s AIBO, Mars rower and Optimus Gen 2. Dr. Salunke also spoke about the future potential of humanoid robots, emphasizing their role in improving workplace safety, assisting elderly and differently-abled individuals, and transforming education through intelligent tutoring systems.

A similiar talk was also conducted for students of Infant Jesus School on 13th Febraury 2026.
