The Pilar Music Academy, under the Society of Pilar, recently organized a traditional Lenten motet singing event titled “A Sound of Angels” on March 2, 2026, at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The program aimed to revive Goa’s rich tradition of sacred music, which has gradually declined over the years. Ten prominent choir groups from across Goa were selected to perform these devotional songs, traditionally sung during the Lenten season to reflect a spirit of prayer, reflection, and penance.

Among the participating groups were the students of the Symphonia Music Club from Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda, who stood out as the only college team invited to participate in the event. The club functions under the guidance of its incharge Prof. Yeshudas Muttu, who actively encourages students to nurture their musical talents and contribute to cultural and liturgical traditions.

Led by Mr. Alric Antao, the students & faculties dedicated significant time and effort to prepare for this specialized form of sacred singing. Their dedication and commitment were reflected in their soulful performance on stage, which was well appreciated by both the audience and the judges.

Competing alongside experienced parish choirs from across the state, the team performed admirably and secured the consolation place in the competition. The program, which was open to the public, served as a meaningful platform for promoting the tradition of Lenten motets while also providing young musicians an opportunity to engage with Goa’s rich sacred musical heritage.
