IEEE Day 2025: Celebrating Technology and Collaboration

The IEEE Day was celebrated on 14th October 2025 by the IEEE DBCE Student Branch at Don Bosco College of Engineering. Coordinated by IEEE members Ms. Shruta Jadhav and Mr. Sydney Dourado, the event was organized to commemorate IEEE Day and to promote collaboration, innovation, and engagement among students.
The program commenced at 1:30 PM with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of IEEE and its role in advancing technology for humanity. This was followed by the distribution of badges to the Executive Committee (ExeCom) members by IEEE DBCE Branch Counselor, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu, and IEEE WIE Mentor, Dr. Mohini Naik. A cake-cutting ceremony was conducted as part of the celebration, symbolizing the spirit of IEEE Day.
Following this, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu addressed the gathering, sharing insights on the importance of being part of professional technical communities and the opportunities offered by IEEE for students and young professionals. Dr. Mohini Naik motivated students to actively participate in IEEE DBCE activities and derive maximum benefit from their IEEE membership.
Several interactive activities were organized during the event to encourage participation and teamwork. A networking activity was conducted in which participants were divided into groups and encouraged to interact with one another. A dance-based activity was also organized, where songs were played and each group had to perform accordingly, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. Additionally, a Real-Life Skribble game and an Escape Room challenge based on IEEE papers were conducted to test the creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities of the participants.
An IEEE Quiz was also conducted to assess participants’ knowledge about IEEE, its history, and its various initiatives. Spot prizes were awarded throughout the event to maintain enthusiasm and encourage active participation among students.
Towards the end of the program, the winners of the presentation and quiz competitions were announced, and prizes were distributed. A special segment titled “What is IEEE to You?” was presented by IEEE DBCE Chair – Mr. Rigel Fernandes , Treasurer – Mr. Vihaan Naik Karmali, and Secretary – Ms. Sonal Gaonkar, where they shared their experiences and perspectives about IEEE and its impact on their academic and professional development.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by IEEE DBCE Vice-chair, Mr. Luke Fernandes.
