Student’s chapter of FIRE & SECURITY ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (FSAI) installed at DBCE

The Mechanical Department of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda installed the student’s Chapter of   FIRE & SECURITY ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (FSAI) on on 9^th February 2019. The Chief Guest for the Inaugural function was Mr. Ashok Menon, Director of Directorate of Fire & Emergency services, Mr. Prem Nadar, Secretory FSAI was the Guest of Honor.  Also present on the dais were Director Rev Fr. Kinley D’Cruz,, Principal  Dr Neena Panandikar, Head of Department –Mechanical Engineering  Prof . Ajit Salunke, The function began with the national anthem sung by Miss Sampada Naik followed with Prayer by Mr. Steven Fernandes and traditional lighting of the lamp.

Mr. Tejas Pandit, President of the FSAI Student chapter welcomed the gathering with his enthusiastic speech. Prof. Saurabh Raikar briefed about the formation of the student chapter and introduced the FSAI chapter leadership committee. Mr. Ashok Menon emphasized on the awareness of fire fighting among citizens and urged the students to come up with innovative solutions in the field. He also talked about the innovation by the Fire Department “Safe Goa Emergency Monitoring system” which works on IOT platform and aims to monitor fire protection system at all establishments. He mentioned about various verticals available to grow in the field of fire safety. Mr. Prem Nadar gave a brief summary of FSAI and mentioned that FSAI conducts workshops in schools and colleges to make students aware of fire and safety. He also mentioned the Prime motto of FSAI is to “Learn Follow Lead & Contribute”. Rev. Fr. Kinley D’ Cruz speaking on the occasion urged the students to inspire peers by having a wider mission and vision to tackle upon challenges and constantly upgrade themselves. Dr. Neena Panandikar addressed the gathering and said that the primary aim of FSAI will be to promote use of fire & safety amongst each and every student and faculty in the campus, making them prepare during an emergency, she also appealed to the students to foster upon a spirit of save living amongst people by  sharing the knowledge they obtain with other individuals.

Certificate of chapter was presented by Chief guest Mr. Ashok Menon to Director Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz followed by the distribution of certificate to the FSAI student chapter members and tec­­­­hnical advisors. The council of FSAI consisting of President Mr. Tejas Pandit , Secretary Mr. Rohit Prabhu, Joint Secretary- Miss Shreelaxmi Desai , Treasurer- Miss Alithea Fernandes along with Technical Advisors and CWC members were inducted by Mr. Ashok Menon. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Rohit Prabhu
