INDEPENDENCE DAY 2019
The 73rd Independence Day celebrated in the college premises on the 15th of August 2019, began with the esteemed Chief Guest- Engg. Alwyn Crasto, unfurling the National Flag. Third year civil student Ms. Sampada Naik accompanied by Mr Joahan Fernandes from second year mechanical on the flute lead the audience in the National Anthem. Ms. Sampada Naik also presented a patriotic song echoing the thoughts of freedom and love for India.
The Rector- Rev. Fr. Paul D’Souza addressed the gathering by saying that freedom fighters of India have conveyed a great message of non – violence to the world . He further stated that as Indian citizens we are called to be responsible citizens who live in peace and harmony. He also said we should not parade artificial patriotism and we have to celebrate each other’s cultural identities and work to build a holy and true nation. .
Principal- Dr.Neena Panandikar introduced the Chief Guest and also remembered Jammu and Kashmir as part of the nation celebrating independence.
The Chief Guest- Engg. Alwyn Crasto gave an inspiring speech where he emphasised on the many pioneers of the nation such as Abdul Kalam, Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani and Ratan Tata. He said independence is not only about achieving your dreams or what India can do for you rather what you can do for India.
A bouquet of flowers and a memento was presented to the Chief Guest by Dr. Neena Panandikar and Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz respectively.
During the programme, the newly elected student members were inducted in the Student Council 2019-20.
The function ended with the Cultural Secretary of 2018-2019 student council Mr. Rohan Bukkam. proposing the Vote of Thanks. The function was compered by Leon Menezes, a second year computer student.
