INDEPENDENCE DAY CYCLE RIDE

Independence Day Ride 2019 was organised by Club Probyk from Panaji and Pro Pedalerz from Margao on Thursday, 15^th August 2019. Prof. Achintya Kambli from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Don Bosco College of Engineering participated in the cycling event.

The event began simultaneously at Azad Maidan, Panjim and Lohia Maidan, Margao at 6:15 am. The riders proceeded to Queeny Junction on the Verna Dabolim Road where they regrouped and proceeded to Vasco. The riders battled adverse weather conditions with heavy rains and high winds with less than ideal road conditions slowing the overall pace. The riders originally planned to join the flag hoisting ceremony at Panaji and Margao. However, due to delays caused by the slow pace, they attended the flag hoisting ceremony at Hotel Queeny, at the Queeny junction.

The riders passed through 3 Talukas and covered a total distance of 60 KM in 3 hours. The event was a success and promoted cycling as a healthy and fun group activity.
