Industrial Visit to Cuncolim Industrial Estate For SE MECH - I

On 24th August 2019, the students of Second Year Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda visited Sri Shanta Pumps Pvt. Ltd, Roto Technie Pvt. Ltd and Sunrise Electromelt Limited at Cuncolim Industrial Estate. It was organised under Mechanical Engineering Students Hub (MESH) of Mechanical Engineering Department.

Sri Shanta Pumps has varied business profile and manufactures pumps, parts of Ceiling fans, blades and stator winding operations. The students got a glimpse of various processes in the manufacturing of blade components. It included cutting of blade from aluminium sheet, bending it to predefined angle, degreasing of blades, powder coating, baking, asembling it with shank and final inspection procedures.

Roto Technie is involved in winding operation for ceiling fan stators and they cater to companies like Crompton Greaves. Various winding operations using Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines and their specifications were briefed.Other processes like quality inspection and functions of seqeuntial analyser were explained.

Sunrise Electromelt Limited are manufacturers of  Iron & Steel bars like I-section, C- section, etc. Mr. Kailash Sharma, Production Manager and Mr. Anil Gaonkar, HR briefed students about various processes, right from procuring raw material to final product. Students got to see the working of Coal pulverizer, Furnance, rollers, shearing machine, shapping machine, etc.

The visit was organized and co–ordinated by Prof. Suraj Marathe and Prof. Chetan Gaonkar. Students of SE Mechanical had an enlightening learning experience.
