Report on 2 day refresher course on Refrigeration and HVAC (30/08/2019 – 31/08/2019)
The refresher course on “Refrigeration and HVAC” was organized by the Mechanical Department of Don Bosco College of Engineering in association with ISHRAE on 30th August to 31st August 2019.
Mr. Tanay Rege, Program coordinator, introduced the workshop and explained the need to know about the technologies that are associated with Refrigeration and HVAC and also briefed on the schedule of the workshop.
The first session on day 1 commenced with the key note address by Mr. Tanay Rege, Assistant Professor DBCE, who gave a brief insight on “Fundamentals of Refrigeration”. The next session was by Mr. Ishan Kossambe, Assistant Professor DBCE who explained “Fundamentals of Psychrometry and Psychrometric Processes”. Third session for the day was given by Mr. Prakash Naik, Manager GSL who gave in-depth knowledge on “Indoor Air Quality”. This session was followed by a session on “Ventilation” by Dr. Jagannath Hirkude, Associate Professor Goa College of Engineering.
The second day of the workshop commenced with a session on “Heating & Cooling Load Calculations” by Mr. Kedar Acharya, Executive Application Engineering Schindler India Pvt. Ltd. The next session for the day was delivered by Mr. Balkrishna Chodankar, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Selection Grade) at Government Polytechnic Bicholim on “Energy Audit”. The Post lunch session was delivered by Mr. K B Kulkarni, Owner of Comfort Services. He delivered a session on “Maintenance of HVAC Systems”.
This two day refresher course finally came to conclusion with a valedictory session presided by Chief Guest, K B Kulkarni. The participants were awarded a certificate by Prof. Ajit Salunke, HOD-Mechanical DBCE. The feedback given by the participants was overwhelming.
The workshop was attended by 17 industry professionals, 4 faculties from academic institutes and 40 final year mechanical engineering students.
