FIELD VISIT OF BE CIVIL STUDENTS

The Final year students of Civil Engineering Department, along with two faculty members, Prof. Prachi Dessai, Prof. Oswyn Soares and Mr. Shantanu Desai visited Sewage treatment Plant, at Tonca- Goa on 11th October 2019.

The plant treats municipal waste for the population of Panjim City with  a capacity of 12.5 MLD. The Assistant Engineer In-charge Mr. Shetty explained the various aspects in processes involved in the treatment of wastewater. The visit was extremely beneficial in understanding the various treatment processes to adopt in a sewage treatment plant to treat municipal effluents.

Students gained hands on experience in understanding the execution of processes like Screening, Grit removal, Oil and Grease Tank, Aeration Chamber (SBR), Sludge Drying Beds. The students also learnt benefits of C-Tech (Cyclic activity sludge process) technology used in treatment plant.

In the afternoon session, the students of Occupational Safety & Health visited Zydus Cadilla, a pharmaceutical Industry in Kundaim- Goa. The Safety Manager at the plant gave a brief presentation to the students about the various safety measures adopted in the industry for prevention of accidents and the protection of their employees.
