The second year Civil Engineering students of Don Bosco College of Engineering visited the RMC plant of ACC at Nessai on 28th September 2019.

At the site Mr. Rahul Gaonkar (Head Sales and Marketing) welcomed the students. He started off by explaining about the founding of ACC. He described the research work done on various materials used by them over time in concrete to strengthen it.  He went on to mention that over time , ACC RMC plants had covered the whole of Goa, that being at Kundaim, Nessai, Vasco and Dhargal. Lastly he pointed out the various achievements ACC had accomplished in the concrete construction industry over the years.

In the latter half, the students got to see the RMC plant layout, where they saw large silos containing separate cement and GGBS, aggregate bins used for storing fine and coarse aggregates. They saw the process of batching of the ingredients and how the ingredients were transferred to the central mixer where concrete is produced and later transferred to the transit mixer to be delivered to the site. Mr. Rahul went on to explain the cost of producing 1 cubic meter of concrete, the maintenance of transit mixers at the plant etc.  He also stated how they have advanced over the time for the benefit of the customers who could track their order over the app installed on their phone.

Lastly, the students saw the in – house Quality Control laboratory where concrete consistency is stringently maintained.
