FIELD TRIP TO OPA WATER TREATMENT PLANT

The students of third year civil engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering attended a field trip at Opa Water Treatment Plant, Khandepar organized by CESA (Civil Engineering Students Association) on 25 January 2020. The students were accompanied by Prof. Prachi Desai and Prof. Nadya Baracho.

Mrs. Sneha Prabhu guided the students throughout the field trip. Opa Water Treatment Plant is the first treatment plant in Goa and was commissioned in the year 1967. The plant has a capacity of treating 12 MLD (million litres per day) of fresh water. The plant gets its source from the Khandepar River. The plant is divided into four units. The plant is responsible for supplying water to Ponda area upto Bambolim. The intake of water from the river is done with the help of a Jackwell, bandharas and a barrage.
