Virtual visit to IMS 1

On June 21, 2021, the Mechanical Department of Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE) organised a virtual visit to IMS, Vasco. The event was hosted through Google meet for the final year students of Mechanical Engineering. The session was taken by Mr Heston Dias, Lecturer and Mr Ajay A. Tambwekar, Dy. Director IMS, Goa.

The session commenced with the interaction between Alumni of DBCE and IMS Mr Janmenjay Sawant. He shared his experiences of the training given at IMS and how it helped him for sailing.

Mr Heston Dias introduced marine engineering to students from training to job prospects. He elaborated the teaching learning process at IMS in the pandemic times. The marine field being fully practical oriented, IMS has introduced in the virtual reality to enable students take a tour to vessels and get acquainted with the different aspects of a ship that cannot be learnt through online classes. Various new laboratories and courses have been introduced to see that the quality of training remains intact in the pandemic times.

Virtual visit to IMS

The faculties at IMS enabled the virtual visit of the campus through photos and videos of the marine workshop and various laboratories of the institute. It was followed by Q&A session on the admission process with the Dy. Director Ajay A. Tambwekar. All focus of the session was to set and guide a career path for students in marine engineering.

The virtual visit was coordinated by Mr. Sachin Turi and Mr Sanjeel Naik considering requests from students and a need to address the employability of students, by HOD-Mechanical- Prof. Ajit Salunke. The online session extended for 1.5 hours with an active participation of 45 students.
