TECHNIX 2021- NATIONAL LEVEL PROJECT COMPETITION
Don Bosco College of Engineering completes 10 years of excellence in technical education. As a part of this celebration, Technix 2021 was organized by the Final Year Project Quality Assurance Committee, Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (ETC) in association with IEEE Student Branch. Technix is a project competition that has been organized by the Department of ETC since 2016 with the primary aim to encourage budding engineers to exhibit their novel ideas and innovative projects.
Technix 2021 commenced in the month of July with the submissions of abstracts which went on till July 27, 2021. A total of 130 participants registered for the competition. Some of the colleges who participated were Bannari Amman Institute of Technology Sathyamangalam, – Tamil Nadu, Vardhaman College of Engineering- Hyderabad, Datta Meghe College of Engineering- Navi Mumbai, Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information technology, Agnel Institute of Technology And Design, Goa College of Engineering, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Don Bosco College of Engineering, etc. The project competition had 2 categories: the Hardware category and software category. The competition saw entries from varied domains like Robotics, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Communication Engineering, 3D printing, automation, mechatronics, etc.
The valedictory function of Technix 2021 was held on August 27, 2021. The dignitaries present were, the judges for Technix 2021- Dr. R.N. Patel – Associate Professor, NIT Raipur and Chair, IEEE Bombay Section Technical and Professional Activities Committee(IEEE BS TPAC); Dr. Saurabh Mehta – Chief Academic Officer at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai and Secretary of IEEE BS; Mr. Hannan Satopay – Chief Executive Officer, Alhansat Technologies and Secretary, IEEE BS TPAC; Rev Fr.Kinley D’cruz- Director,DBCE ; Dr. Neena Panandikar – Principal-DBCE; Mr. D. S. Prashant -CEO of Forum for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship; and Dr. Varsha Turkar -HOD of ETC.
The event was compered by Prof. Priyanka Padiyar. The event commenced with the welcome address by Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz. In his address, he said “You all are winners. You have come of age, and the world is now your play field. Step out confidently and make your mark”. Later, the Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts put in by the students, coordinators and judges. Following this, the HOD of ETC, Dr. Varsha Turkar mentioned about the various domains and ended by quoting Steve Jobs: “If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” The Coordinator of Technix, Prof. Anisha Cotta presented the report of Technix 2021 and acknowledged the support, motivation and guidance received to make Technix 2021 a success. Later, top 5 projects were presented from hardware and software category. Prof. Priyanka Padiyar introduced the judges to the audience. The Judges then shared their experience in playing such a key role for the competition and declared the winners. The first place in the Hardware Category was bagged by Vivek Khadilkar, Drasti Naik, Saeel Kamat – Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa for their project titled ‘Sanitizing Robot’. The first place in the Software Category was bagged by Sapana Kambli, Lata Pawar, Joel Fernandes- Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa for their project titled ‘Innovative Medium of Learning Using Augmented Reality’.
The event was concluded with the Vote of thanks by the Coordinator and IEEE DBCE Student Branch Counselor, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu.
