REPORT OF FE INAUGURAL PRAYER SERVICE
After a two-week Student Induction program, an Inaugural Prayer Service for the newly inducted first year engineering students of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, was conducted on October 11, 2022 in the college auditorium. Those present on the dais were Fr. Clive Telles-Provincial, Salesian Province of Panjim, Fr. Ralin De Souza – Rector, Fr. Kinley D’Cruz- Director, Dr. Neena Panandikar – Principal, Dr. Kala Nayak – Registrar & Head of Department of Science & Humanities . Also present were Fr. Leo Pereira – Administrator, Fr. George Quadros, Heads of Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Computer Science Engineering and Computer Engineering, Mr. Thejus Joseph, COO of FIIRE, faculty & staff of the college and the entire batch of the newly inducted first year students from the Civil, Mechanical, ECS and Computer branches.
At the outset, a video summarising the two-week induction program was screened. This was followed by the three students reading passages from the Quran, Bhagavad Gita and Bible. A hymn thanking God was then sung by the senior students. On behalf of the first year students and faculty, a prayer seeking God’s help was recited by a student and faculty respectively.
The Provincial, Rector, Director, Principal and Registrar along with a first year student then joined in traditional lighting of the lamp marking the inaugural of the new first year batch.
All the dignitaries were subsequently welcomed by floral tributes.
The dignitaries were then invited to briefly address the gathering. Dr. Neena Panandikar congratulated the students for choosing Don Bosco College of Engineering, highlighted the facilities of the college and motivated the students saying “respect your teachers, respect each other, dream big, work hard and success will be yours”. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz welcomed the Provincial as this was his first visit to the Institute since being installed as the Provincial. Fr. Ralin said “We are all one family each having unique responsibilities which have to be fulfilled to achieve success.” Fr. Clive highlighted the presence of Don Bosco Institutes across the globe and urged the students to be proud of being a ‘Boscoite’. He further said “We are all here because of you students, we will not leave you but will always be there behind you because we care for you and love you”.
The academic calendar for the odd semester of academic year 2022-23 was then released at the hands of the Provincial.
The program ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Kala Nayak.
