Report On “GATE Preparation for Civil Students”

One hour talk for the Second year Civil Engineering students was organized on 16th July 2016. Mr. Darius Barreto was the key note speaker and he spoke on how to get prepared for answering the GATE exam. Mr. Darius Barreto is a past pupil of 2012 batch – PCCE where he stood second at his graduation level in Mechanical Engineering from the Goa University. He was a lecturer for two years and also worked for BOSCH for a period of three months .He later answered his GATE Exam in February 2014 with AIR 1307 and was subsequently admitted for the MTech programme at IIT-Delhi .He secured a CGPA of 8.64 in his M.Tech which led him to do his PhD in May 2016. He is presently pursuing the PhD programme at IIT-Delhi in the Department of Applied Mechanics .His area of interest is Nanomechanics and Nanotribology In his talk Mr. Darius briefed the students on the various options available after graduation in fields of academics and Jobs. He spoke on the pattern of examination and scheme of marking at the GATE exam. He also enlightened the students on the various training centers present in India for GATE coaching and also shared some of his experiences on joining such classes.
