STPI IOT Lab field trip report 2023
The Department of Computer Engineering – Don Bosco College of Engineering organized a field trip to IoT OpenLab at STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) and Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum Bangalore for the students of final year computer engineering branch from February 23-26, 2023. Students were accompanied by Mr. Amey Tilve and Ms. Janhavi Naik.
On February 24, 2023, the students visited Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum, Bangalore where they got an opportunity to learn about the various aspects of science and technology through exhibits, interactive displays, and demonstrations. The students were taken on a guided tour of the museum and were shown exhibits related to various fields such as electricity, electronics, space technology, and aviation. They all were also able to watch the 3D show for 20 minutes. The students were able to interact with the exhibits and understand the principles behind them.
Post Lunch, the students were taken to the Software Technology Park of India (STPI), which is an organization established by the government of India to promote the software industry in the country.
Next, the students were given a tour of the IoT openaccess lab, where they do all the tests related to IoT products. The STPI staff explained many pieces of equipment, including voltage simulators, oscilloscopes, smart meters, etc. The students were shown how these devices work and how they are used to test IoT products.
Overall, the industrial visit was very informative. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to observe and understand the practical application of concepts learned in classrooms. The students were able to learn about the latest technologies and initiatives taken by the government to promote the software industry in India, especially in the IoT domain. The visit was successful in achieving its objectives and was appreciated by the students and faculty. Faculty Co-ordinator for Industrial visit was Mrs. Manisha Fal Dessai.
