Women’s Day 2023
On March 8, 2023, Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. The celebration started with an inspiring “Ode to Women” song video by Hindustan Times that aimed to encourage women to be their true selves. The video had an uplifting, celebratory, and joyful mood.
The Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar, warmly welcomed everyone to the event. The minutes of Dhrishni, the women’s cell of the college, was presented in a PowerPoint presentation by Secretary – Janhavi Naik , that showcased the year-round activities with photographs.
To add cheerfulness to the atmosphere, a video featuring male faculty and students speaking about the role of women was played. Some of the videos had a humorous element that brought smiles to the audience’s face. The Director of DBCE, Rev. Fr. Kinley Dcruz, also addressed the gathering, followed by an enthralling performance by Asst. Prof. Shweta from the Department of Computer Engineering.
The event also included an online session on grooming and a presentation by Ms. Tarveen Kaur, the founder of Personify Attitude, an image consultant from Mumbai. This was followed by a rhythmic dance performance by Dr. Neena Panandikar and Prof. Vaishali Parakhi that brought in a lot of cheer. The students also performed a mime that highlighted various issues related to gender inequality that girls and women face, reminding everyone that societal norms need to change for the better.
Finally, the event’s grand finale was a Zumba session led by certified Zumba instructor – Mr. Arafat Ahamed. It was an energetic session with the right beat and dance moves that transformed the aura of the group. The program was hosted by Counselor- Elaine Dias and Ms. Gauravi Kamat from the Third year- Department of Computer Engineering. The program was attended by all female faculty, teaching, non-teaching staff, women support staff and girl students from Third year and Final year of DBCE.
