A hands on session on Fire Safety & use of Fire extinguishers conducted by DBCE FSAI Chapter

The Fire & Security Association of India(FSAI), DBCE Chapter and the students of elective Industrial Safety and Environment, Mechanical Department, Don Bosco College of Engineering organized a training session on Fire Safety & use of Fire Extinguishers on 27^th August 2019 for the students of the institute.

First , the students were briefed by Prof. Saurabh Raikar about the importance of fire and safety and various precautionary measures to be taken in case of accidental fires at home, laboratories, college or workplace. Then, Mr. Tejas Pandit(President of FSAI, DBCE Chapter) educated the students on the classification of fire and type of fire extinguisher to be used in each case. The students were given practical demonstration on how to use a fire extinguisher by Mr. Rohit Prabhu(Secretary of FSAI, DBCE Chapter). The students of Industrial Safety & Environment helped in giving hands on training to the First and Second Year students of the institute on how to use a fire extinguisher.

The students thanked Fr. Kinley D’Cruz(Director), Dr. Neena Panandikar(Principal) and Prof. Ajit Salunke(HOD Mechanical) for giving them this opportunity to learn about fire safety and fire extinguishers so that they can help & assist in case of accidental fire at home and workplace. The DBCE team is grateful to Mr. K. K. Sekhar(President, FSAI Goa Chapter), Mr. Prem Nadar(Secretary, FSAI Goa Chapter) and Mr. Sameet Manerikar(Chapter Executive, FSAI Goa Chapter) for support in various initiatives taken by FSAI DBCE Chapter. The students also thanked A.R. Mines for sponsoring the Fire extinguishers used during the program. The program was coordinated by Prof. Ajit Salunke and Prof. Saurabh Raikar as a part of Practical sessions of the elective subject, Industrial Safety & Environment in association with FSAI, Goa Chapter.
