A Pathway to Success in Supply Chain Management: Insights by Benecia Colaco
Ms. Benecia Colaco, a 2021 BE Mechanical Engineering graduate from DBCE, shared her professional journey and career insights with the students. After being recruited as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at CEAT Tyres through campus placement, she advanced to the role of Assistant Manager in Supply Chain Management. In 2024, she transitioned to Yokohama, India, where she now serves as Deputy Manager.
Ms. Colaco emphasized the importance of holistic development, acquiring industry-ready skills, and preparing effectively for interviews and aptitude tests. She encouraged students to create a comprehensive life plan, seize opportunities, and enjoy their career journey. Her talk focused primarily on Supply Chain Management (SCM), where she explained key processes like planning, sourcing, production, delivery, logistics, and handling returns. She also highlighted essential technical skills, such as proficiency in MS Excel, statistical and analytical abilities, and familiarity with ERP systems and logistics terminology. Additionally, Ms. Colaco stressed the importance of soft skills, including teamwork, communication, and presentation. She discussed future industry trends like automation, AI, and advanced analytics.
