A Webinar on ‘Arduino for Beginners’
Sapientury, Bengaluru in association with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Don Bosco College of Engineering- Fatorda- Goa (DBCE) Student Branch Women in Engineering Affinity Group organized a webinar on ‘Arduino for Beginners’ held on September 30, 2021 via the Google Meet platform. The webinar was open to all students of the college but the main audience comprised of students from second and third year. The student co-ordinator for the event was Ms. Britney Mascarenhas, IEEE Student member from Third year – Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering.
The host, Ms. Rashee Gude – IEEE Student member, warmly welcomed the participants and introduced the speaker for the evening Ms. Poojitha M K, the President of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC): Bangalore Institute of Technology. She began the session by saying “The engineering education system requires more practical and experimental learning methods rather than having plain theory-related courses”. She was very expressive and gave many good examples of experimental learning. Ms. Poojitha then followed through to the main topic, that is, Arduino and briefed the audience about the Arduino ecosystem which comprises of the Arduino board and its components. She explained the importance of development boards and how Arduino, being an open-source platform, is diverse from the others. She further went on and taught us about the Arduino board setup and the Arduino software. The speaker also conducted a simulation of the Arduino board on the TinkerCad software and encouraged the participants to take it up as well. Many Arduino-related project ideas were also shared through the presentation. Before ending the session, Ms. Poojitha made sure to ask the students for any doubts, after which the host Ms. Rashee concluded the webinar.
