ANNUAL DAY 2019
Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Goa celebrated its Eighth Annual Day and Prize Distribution Ceremony at Ravindra Bhavan on 29 March 2019. The Annual day is a platform to appreciate and acknowledge the young budding engineers for their academic achievements and to display their talents in the field of Music, Dance and Theatre.
Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar welcomed the gathering and congratulated the hard work put in that celebrates the spirit of Don Bosco College of Engineering. Director, Fr. Kinley D’Cruz addressed the gathering and appreciated the remarkable growth of the institute. Rector, Rev. Fr. Paul D’Souza was present on the dais along with the other dignitaries.
Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar highlighted the incredible progress the college has made in a span of eight years. Heads of Departments presented the annual report of their respective department, Registrar, Dr. Kala Nayak announced to the gathering the performance of the meritorious students and were felicitated. The Training & Placement report along with NSS report was presented by the respective officers. The students were awarded certificates for various sports competitions. The college magazine Beacon and the Newsletter Connections were released at the hands of the dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Mr. Jaideep Redkar, Vice President, Rosenberger Asia Pacific emphasized upon the need for maintaining relationships along with professional success in life. Stressing upon the need to garner more and more quality education, he said that education is like a ship. One does not feel its weight while it is sailing, but it takes you to your destination. He also made students aware of their responsibilities towards society and importance of value education.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. John Shilshi, an IPS officer, retired of Manipur cadre, presently an Analyst of Think Tank group on Internal Security, China -Tibet and Nepal affairs advised the elders not to enforce a particular career option upon their children. He further stated that it is a misconception that only by joining forces or civil services or getting a government job, one can serve the nation. Every work, every profession contributes towards nation building. He applauded Don Bosco College of Engineering for nurturing great values and talent among students. He emphasized upon the need for students to read beyond textbooks and appear for various competitive exams with set planning and strong will.
The students, Mr. Ceasar D’Silva (BE Computer) and Ms. Stella Tom (SE Computer) compered the function. The formal inaugural session was followed by a cultural programme presented by the students and staff members. The function ended on a glorious note with students of BE Mechanical winning the PROCYON Trophy and TE Mechanical winning the Runners-up trophy. Prof. Natasha D’Souza e Jaques proposed the vote of thanks.
