Annual SPORTS DAY

The 4th Annual Sports Meet took place on March 3, 2020 at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda. Every year, this day provides an opportunity for the students and staff to sprint on the sports field and release the spirit of sportsmanship, leadership and competitiveness .
The Chief Guest for the function was Rev. Fr. Ralin De souza, Director , Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim. Also, present on the dais were Rev. Fr. Kinley D’cruz- Director, Dr. Neena Panandikar-Principal, Rev. Fr. Paul D’souza – Rector, Dr. Kala Nayak-Registrar.
The function began with the unfurling of the flag and the whole gathering sang the college anthem lead by the Don Bosco band.
The torch was then lit by the Chief Guest who handed it over to Rajat Chipkar . The torch relay began with Rajat Chipkar (BE Mech) followed by Kaviraj Rane (BE Mech), Pranav Khedekar (BE ETC),Simron Rodrigues (FE Mech) , Neehal Bind (TE Mech) , Carson Rodrigues (FE Comp) , Flint Leitao (SE Mech), Ray Cortez (TE Civil),Sonia Vasco Da Gama(TE Civil) – Sports Secretary who then recited the Sportsmanship prayer. The students from all four departments lead by their squad leaders took part in the march past parade .
Dr. Neena Panandikar, in her welcome address congratulated Dr. Avertano Baretto , Prof. Chetan Gaonakar and Ms. Sonia Vasco Da Gama along with the team members for having successfully organized the Annual sports day and also efficiently carrying out the interclass tournaments.
Rev. Fr. Kinley D’cruz, then introduced the Chief Guest to the audience and handed over a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Ralin De souza addressed the gathering and motivated the students to give their best, saying that the value of the mind does not exist by itself, but one’s body contributes to its existence. He said ,that the students need to be determined in order to excel in the field of sports. He then declared the 4th Annual Sports Day at Don Bosco College of Engineering open.

The rest of the evening saw the students sprint and enthusiastically take part in the following events:
1) 100 mts run(Men & Women)
2) 200 mts run(Men & Women)
3) 400 mts run(Men & Women)
4) 4 x 100 mts relay(Men & Women)
5) 4 x 200 mts relay(Men & Women)
6) Tug of war between staff and students(Men & Women)This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony .

Dr. Avertano Baretto delivered the vote of thanks.The flag was then lowered and folded by Pranav Khedkar , Kaviraj Rane, Rajat Chipkar, Simron Rodrigues and handed over to the Chief Guest, which was then handed over to Prof. Chetan Gaonkar. At the end, the flame was put out by the chief guest and he declared the 4th Annual Sports Meet; CLOSED.
