Brain Talks: To Promote Research in Neuroscience

A session on “Brain Talks: To Promote Research in Neuroscience”under “VIDNYAN DHARA 2025”, A MEGA SCIENCE SERIES, (Government of Goa, Goa State Higher Education Council and Directorate of Higher Education), was organized on 15^th January 2025 at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Goa.

Dr. Shanti N. Dessai was the resource speaker, she is a renowned expert in Zoology, developmental neurogenesis, and toxicology at School of Biological sciences and Biotechnology, Goa University. Dr. Shanti N. Dessai spoke about Bird Vocalizations: How they go vocal, Avian Vocal Repertoire, Bird Vocalization, Neural processing, Sonograms/Spectrograms, Phases of learning, Vocalization/Song circuit in the brain of birds.

She also highlighted the Research applications in terms of, Bird Tweeter: Applications in Autism Spectrum Disorder Research, Chick Model Parallels with Human vocalization, Bird & Human: similarities vocalizations, Bird Vocalization convergence with Human Speech. She also mentioned how to approach such research and what are the available techniques, Autism Spectrum Disorder Application, and Basic Concept of Neural Integration. The session was attended by Civil, Electronics and Computer science, Mechanical and Computer Engineering students. Dr. Shwetha Prasanna, R&D Chairperson coordinated the session.
