Bridging design and manufacturing: DBCE Mechanical Faculty attends ‘From SolidWorks to Reality’ Workshop at BITS, Goa

Mr. Sachin Turi and Mr. Aniket Naik, Assistant Professors in the Mechanical Department of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, participated in a two-day hands-on workshop titled ‘From SolidWorks to Reality’ held on 7th and 8th March 2026, organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, BITS Pilani K. K. Birla Goa Campus in collaboration with the Teaching Learning Centre (TLC).

The workshop focused on bridging the gap between Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Additive Manufacturing (AM), offering participants practical exposure to transforming digital models into physical prototypes. Key sessions included 3D part and assembly modelling using SOLIDWORKS, invited talk on Metal Additive Manufacturing, Sessions on Design considerations for 3D printing, slicing and build preparation, the use of AR/VR in additive manufacturing, and hands-on fabrication using FDM and DLP systems.

The workshop provided valuable insights and practical skills that will enhance teaching methodologies and support student projects in advanced manufacturing technologies.
