Civil Industry–Academia Meet Held

The Training and Placement Cell of DBCE, in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering, organized the “Civil Industry–Academia Meet: Shaping the Next Generation of Civil Engineers” on 21st November 2025 at the Board Room. The meet brought together industry consultants, the Principal, and faculty members to discuss ways to enhance student preparedness for the civil engineering sector.

The session focused on developing a structured professional feedback framework, addressing on-site performance, communication challenges, practical skill gaps, and improving student engagement with industry expectations.

Industry experts shared valuable insights. Er. Prasad Navelkar emphasized management skills, leadership, business awareness, and proficiency in engineering software and AI tools. Er. Marcus Cardoso highlighted the need for stronger practical skills and recommended encouraging early interest in engineering. Dr. Neena Panandikar suggested internship-based assessment and greater awareness of job opportunities. Er. Datta Kare stressed strengthening core structural engineering concepts and using visualization tools like SketchUp. Er. Gaurish Kamat recommended improving competence in basic tests and organizing a workshop on data analysis. Er. Shekhar Panandikar emphasized manual design skills and encouraged regular site visits for practical exposure.

The meet concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Neena Panandikar, appreciating the insights shared by industry partners. The event marked a significant step toward aligning academic training with industry needs and preparing students to become confident, industry-ready civil engineers.
