The Training and Placement Cell of Don Bosco College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering, organized the Civil Industry–Academia Meet: Shaping the Next Generation of Civil Engineers on 21st November 2025 at the Board Room. The programme brought together industry professionals, the Principal, and faculty members to deliberate on strengthening the industry readiness of civil engineering students.

The session focused on developing a structured professional feedback framework, addressing gaps in on-site performance, communication skills, and practical competencies, and exploring ways to enhance student engagement with real-world industry expectations.

Industry experts shared valuable insights during the interaction. Er. Prasad Navelkar emphasized the importance of management skills, leadership qualities, business awareness, and proficiency in engineering software and AI-based tools. Er. Marcus Cardoso highlighted the need to strengthen practical exposure and encouraged early interest in core engineering practices. Dr. Neena Panandikar suggested incorporating internship-based assessments and increasing student awareness of emerging job opportunities. Er. Datta Kare stressed the importance of strong foundational knowledge in structural engineering and the use of visualization tools such as SketchUp. Er. Gaurish Kamat recommended improving competence in basic testing procedures and organizing workshops on data analysis. Er. Shekhar Panandikar underscored the importance of manual design skills and regular site visits to enhance practical understanding.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Neena Panandikar, who acknowledged the valuable contributions of the industry experts.
