Converge 3.0: Academia–Industry Summit and Technical Workshop on Low Code Development

Converge 3.0, an academia–industry summit, was successfully inaugurated on 5 February 2025 at Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda, under the aegis of the Department of Electronics and Computer Science. The event was organized as an initiative of the Department of Higher Education in association with the Goa State Higher Education Council, with the objective of fostering meaningful collaboration between academia and industry. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Mayur Virkar, who attended as the Chief Guest.
The summit aimed to bring together students, academicians, and industry professionals to exchange knowledge, explore emerging trends, and strengthen the connection between education and industry in Goa and beyond. As part of the day’s proceedings, the Department of Electronics and Computer Science organized a technical workshop on Low Code Development for the Second Year Electronics and Computer Science Engineering students.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Pavan Kalyan, an alumnus of the ETC Batch of 2021, who shared his professional experience and practical insights from the industry. The session commenced with an introduction to the concept of low code development, followed by a detailed demonstration of the Bubble platform. The speaker elaborated on the advantages and limitations of low code tools and discussed their growing significance in modern application development. He also presented a comparative analysis of traditional coding approaches and low code platforms, enabling students to critically understand the scope, relevance, and constraints of both methodologies.
The afternoon session featured a hands-on practical component, during which students actively engaged in building applications using a low code platform. This interactive experience effectively bridged the gap between theoretical understanding and real-world implementation, enhancing the overall learning outcome.
The workshop was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Kimberly Morais, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event. The session was well received by the students and provided valuable exposure to contemporary industry practices and emerging technological trends. Overall, the workshop conducted under Converge 3.0 on 5 February 2025 served as a meaningful initiative in strengthening industry-oriented learning and promoting academic–industry engagement.
