Creative Thinking: using Design Thinking

On 21st March 2025, Don Bosco College of Engineering in association with Binghamton University, NY organised a seminar on “Creative Thinking: using Design Thinking”. The session was delivered by Prof. Michael Testani, Director of Binghamton University’s Engineering Outreach Program. He is skilled in various areas such as design thinking, change management, business process improvements among many others. Prof. Testani spoke about Design thinking as a human-centered approach to problem-solving that focuses on understanding users’ needs, challenges, and experiences to create innovative solutions. He described the five-step process: Empathize (understand the users and their needs), Define (identify the problem clearly), Ideate (brainstorm possible solutions), Prototype (create tangible representations of ideas), and Test (evaluate solutions with real users). He interacted with the students on several aspects with polls and challenged the students on some critical design aspects. Students responded by asking him several questions about the same. The session was conducted as a part of the MOU with Binghamton University, NY and was coordinated by Asst. Prof. Christina Barretto.
